Building your dream: The ultimate guide for self-builders
Taking on the challenge of building your own home can be a daunting process, especially if it’s the first time you have done it.
Pasquill is dedicated to supporting you throughout your self-build project. By selecting Pasquill for your engineered timber needs, you gain access to our extensive expertise as a leading supplier of trussed rafters and Engineered Joists in the UK.
We’ll be breaking down how our team can support you from enquiry to completion, the available products, and how we can enhance your build.
Creating your perfect self-build project
Before any projects can commence, you will need to ensure planning permission is in place with your local authority. Work closely alongside your architect on the drawings for your build, and submit these to the authority alongside your application.
Once planning permission has been approved, you can then contact your local Pasquill Design Centre and request a quote. You can get in touch by email, phone, or by visiting your local Pasquill Design Centre. Alternatively, your builder can contact a local builder’s merchant directly or request they use Pasquill.
Your local Design Centre team will review the drawings you have submitted, and contact you or your builder to understand the specifications of your build and the products you will require. They will demonstrate what solution will be best for your project to make the most out of your budget and space. If a project is more complex, we may advise that our technical representative attends the site to take measurements before our Designer begins the quoting process.
Our Designers will then create a 3D model from your drawings alongside your quotation. For every design, we break down the individual elements and products that make up a structure, which allows you to differentiate between each element and compare quotes on a like-for-like basis.
We provide all structural elements which includes our engineered timber products, loose timber and necessary metalwork for fixing. These extra elements can be discussed with the Designer or technical colleagues you are communicating with. Ensuring the team are aware of all the needs of the build is vital in making the entire process smooth to avoid delays.
With completed and agreed designs in place, our team will then get to work crafting your high-quality engineered timber products. Our Pasquill teams can build the project in as little as one day using our high-performance machines.
The elements of your build will be manufactured off-site and delivered to the site ready to assemble.
