Pasquill Wins Emerald Award For Environmental Efforts
Pasquill, the UK’s largest supplier of Roof Trusses, has been recognised, at an international level from its parent company Saint-Gobain, by scooping a prestigious Emerald Award for significant efforts towards reducing its Environmental impact.
The Diamonds Rubies Emeralds trophies reward Saint-Gobain businesses, worldwide, that have demonstrated significant progress in Environment, Health or Safety, or have developed and implemented actions in the framework of risks assessment, reduction and control.
15 awards were handed out at this year’s conference, which was held at the Saint-Gobain head office – Les Miroirs – in Paris. Igor Marcius, Pasquill’s Site Operations Manager – Redhill, London, collected the award from the CEO of Saint-Gobain, Pierre-André de Chalender. Igor said, “I felt very honoured and proud to have collected this award and representing Pasquill. This is a massive achievement for Pasquill, especially when you consider that Saint-Gobain operates in 67 countries and employs over 179,000 colleagues. This shows that nothing is impossible.”
The Emerald award recognises Pasquill’s hard work and commitment by everyone in the business in reducing their impact on the environment. So far this year, Pasquill have succeeded in;
- Reducing its’ energy by 16% since 2015. This has been achieved through implementing innovative energy saving solutions, such as auto-switch on/off of the extraction equipment, upgrading compressors, upgrading lighting and light controls.
- Ensuring all raw materials is sourced from certifiable sustainable sources.
- Using waste as a resource by proper waste segregation. Whether this be offcuts of Gypsum plasterboard, which are now being sent back to British Gypsum and used as a raw material to make new plasterboards, or wood waste which is used by other companies as a raw material for their products.
- Surveying all sites, resulting in the removal of harmful invasive plant species such as, Japanese Knotweed and also the protection of a protected species – Great Crested Newts.
Philip Pointon, Pasquill’s EHS & Quality Manager, said, “This is a tremendous achievement for Pasquill, it recognises the dedication of our staff to protect the environment. We still have a lot more to do to meet our environmental ambitions, but this certainly recognises the great work achieved so far.”
