3D Technology Assists Design Of The Quadrant
The 3D visibility setting of Pamir has enabled Jonathan Hassall, Design Office Manager at Pasquill, to bring a complicated roofing scheme to life on the screen and has helped speed up the design process at a large mixed-use site at Weston-Super-Mare for National House Builder, Persimmon Homes.
Pasquill manufactured and supplied 557 Roof Trusses, 206 Spandrel Panels and Ancillary Timbers for a 1400 square metre three storey building called ‘The Quadrant’.
Over 20 deliveries were made over a four-week period from Pasquill’s Stoney Stanton branch to the site, despite delivery restrictions created by a close proximity of a school.
Persimmon Homes’ Materials Buyer, Andy Wood said: “It was invaluable to have Pasquill’s designers take our original elevations and come up with solutions for us. It was particularly helpful to be able to see the company’s suggested designs in the 3D easy to view configuration that the company’s software facilitates. The order was placed based on previous service levels, including the high standard of designs produced, as well as speedy design turnaround, and on-site assistance.”
On-site support was provided at each step of the building process by Jonathan. Jonathan visited the site on a weekly basis to see how the work was progressing and to answer any queries as the building was being erected. Using Pamir allowed Jonathan to visualise the roof as it was being designed in order to create the most cost-effective solution for the client and factory-friendly design for manufacture.
“The design and drawings took 3 weeks to complete, however without the software it would have taken at least twice that amount of time”, said Jonathan. “The ability to see the roof in 3D whilst building the frames was a great help in setting out the trusses, as was using live sections to measure Spandrel Panel heights and positions.”
The use of the 3-D Pamir design software has helped speed up the design process as well as visualise complicated roof structures.
