The Gym at Chorley Opens its Doors
Pasquill has invested in converting an unused office on their site in Chorley with a new gym.
As one of Pasquill’s goals is to enhance the health and wellbeing of colleagues, the introduction of the new gym will hopeful encourage all colleagues, on site, to keep fit and healthy.
Ross Baxter, Managing Director of Timber Group, and Cathy Mansell, owner at The Personal Fitness Company officially opened the doors to the new facilities.
Jon Walsh, Designer at Chorley, commented; “The team needed a place to go to keep fit during their lunch breaks when the weather was unpleasant and as most are parents; family life proves quite difficult in the week to get to the gym and this is where the idea for a gym came about.”
Renovations of the old office began in the summer with the Chorley team – Philip Clark, Adam Gannon, Isaac Grady, Rob Minshall and Jon Walsh, voluntarily clearing and tidying the room of old desks, chairs and drawers. This then allowed the team to fit a new carpet, paint the walls and set up the new gym equipment.
The Gym is open from 6am to 10pm and is available to all Pasquill employees and has been fitted out with some of the latest equipment including an exercise bike, cross trainer, a floor exercise area, punch bag, resistance bands, rowing machine, running machine and free weights. The choice of equipment is aimed at encouraging all the staff of different ages that they should take some time within their day to look after themselves both physically and mentally.
The Gym @ Pasquill was opened during the company’s International EHS Day. The day involved employees partaking in Environmental, Health and Safety activities. Across the sites all employees carried out activities such as forklift truck training, health and fitness checks and manual handling training. Cathy Mansell commented, “The gym is the perfect space for Pasquill people to build both Cardiovascular fitness and strength, or simply to complement the routines they follow outside work. We’ve given them some more challenging workouts to make the most of the equipment and the time available – and we definitely had some wobbly and aching legs on the day, to some employee’s surprise! From all of our work with businesses across the UK, we know that a good level of fitness improves mood, movement and energy both in work and at home. The benefits are immeasurable. By making fitness even more accessible on site, Pasquill have taken yet another step towards improving the wellbeing of their employees.”
The new Gym @ Pasquill will hopefully give the team at Pasquill the opportunity to both improve their work lives and physical health.
