Of course, when it comes to house building, new ideas are constantly being developed and making the most of new products and ways of working can be a great way to cut costs, build sustainably and stay ahead of the competition.
This is why a little research can be beneficial and while researching individual products is essential, an easy way to check out new-to-the-market products and techniques is by attending events and exhibitions.
There are a wide range of events held across the UK throughout the year, with events aimed at everyone from seasoned professionals to first time self-builders. - Homebuilding & Renovating Show Held at various locations across the UK, the Homebuilding & Renovating Show is aimed at self-builders at all stages of the building process, from finding the perfect plot to those finishing touches. Scheduled dates for 2016 include, Glasgow 21-22 May, Surrey 25-26 June, London 23-25 September, Edinburgh 15-16 October, Harrogate 4-6 November, and Somerset 19-20 November. - The Big Green Home Show An area which is rapidly changing, sustainable building is big news and an important aspect of any new building project. At the Big Green Home Show, builders and self-builders alike can get brought up-to-date on the latest green techniques on everything from roofing and flooring to insulation and water conservation. - London Build 2016 Expo For those in the south, the London Build 2016 Expo (www.londonbuildexpo.com/) could be worth a visit. Held at Olympia in London from 26 to 27 October, it offers an opportunity to find out more about up-coming construction projects and products as well as to network. Other events include North England Build Expo (27-28 April) and Scotland Build Expo (23 – 24 November).
Those looking ahead to 2017 may want to pencil in the next Ecobuild event, the UK’s leading conference event aimed at the construction industry, which will be held in London on 7-9 March 2017.
