Pasquill Support The Royal Marines Charity Project
As part of our new charity initiative, “Helping Hands”, we provided our technical support to The Royal Marines Charity to help build a specially adapted home for Corporal Philip Eaglesham.
Whilst preparing to return home, after being deployed to Afghanistan, Corporal Philip Eaglesham became ill. After being admitted to hospital, and following a number of tests, it was confirmed that Philip had contracted a bacterial infection, Q Fever. This chronic illness caused severe muscular problems and has left Philip wheelchair bound.
To help Philip rebuild his life, The Royal Marines Charity set about on its biggest project to date, the creation of a specially adapted home, calling upon support from the construction industry.
Our Technical Area Sales Manager, Mervyn Larcombe, was initially asked to meet with Paul Edwards, the main contractor for the project, through our sister company, Jewson. We were one of the several construction companies, who supported the project.
The house not only provides Philip with more accessibility, but it also means he can now get a sense of normality back within his family home. Philip commented: “Just over a year ago, I tried to take my own life, but this house has given us a chance to make a new life, and to feel that we have a real future again. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank The Royal Marines Charity, its supporters, Pasquill, and everyone that has given their time and effort to help us with this life changing project.”
