New investment at Stoney Stanton
Our Stoney Stanton site has undergone a series of improvements designed to enhance the customer experience and reduce environmental impact.
A new high-performance Hundegger TurboDrive, has replaced the existing DePauw saw. Allowing for faster and more flexible cutting, the saw will help to increase efficiency and quality of output, and also prevent dust and noise emission.
In addition, Stoney Stanton’s new Uni-Roll machine will ensure fast and efficient production of Posi-Joists, leading to faster order processing for customers and enhanced precision in handling materials.
This work is laying the groundwork for the completion of a multi-million pound investment at our Redhill site: the Randek Autoeye project, which will be the UK’s first automated truss production line.
The Randek machinery constitutes a significant and innovative investment that will increase capacity and help to future-proof the business. Helping to fill the off-site and on-site skills gap, this switch to automation will boost efficiency, accuracy, speed, and safety, as well as free up valuable colleague time so it can be reallocated elsewhere in the factory.
To accommodate the new line at Stoney Stanton and the additional stock, a new building with a top yard racking system has been installed. This system will accommodate the necessary additions to increase efficiency and workflow, moreover increasing productivity.
Rob Bonsmann, Site Operations Manager, comments: “The goal of all our investments is to create a safer working environment for colleagues and customers while providing an even better service and customer experience. Together the investments will lead to an increase in output and quality, allowing our team to work smoothly through all elements of production and keeping us ahead of the construction industry.”
Stoney Stanton is just one of the sites included in our ongoing continuous improvement programme, which also includes providing all sites with an improved puck design that will reduce setting time, as well as updated 5S equipment to ensure an organised and efficient work area.
