Bodmin site investments boost output and working environment
Maintaining colleague welfare and providing an enhanced service is at the heart of our continuous investments – and nowhere is this truer than at our Bodmin site, which has undergone a £160k renovation.
The renovation has provided the site with enhanced workspaces to enable them to carry out their roles better and more comfortably, as well as a new meeting and training room that combines with a private area that will act as a showroom for customers to view 3D walkthroughs of their project designs.
Not only have our offices benefitted from improvements, but other areas of the factory have, too. We have installed 20m of heavy-duty barriers, costing £5,200. This includes end, corner and horizontal rails, bolted to be secured in the concrete floor. These barriers provide a walkway for all colleagues and visitors entering the factory, ensuring they are safe and that their presence causes no disruption to operations.
Additionally, we have invested in the capabilities of our technology, as no expert can work with unoptimised tools. This includes a refurbishment of our birch press, which will enhance the speed and efficiency with which we can make birch Roof Trusses.
“The £160k investment into Bodmin has already dramatically improved our main offices with a training/meeting room and a smart workplace for the design and operations team,” comments Chris Putt, Site Operations Manager. “The ongoing welfare facilities will be a huge support to the operations team with a new canteen, bathrooms and offices. This will have a big impact on the morale of the staff. All the improvements will increase safety and allow us to provide a better service to our customers.”
The improvements at Bodmin are part of our multi-million-pound investment strategy programme across our UK sites, which also includes providing all sites with an improved puck design that will reduce setting time as well as updated 5S equipment to ensure an organised and efficient work area. The strategy aims to upgrade our operations and facilities to enhance the customer experience. This investment strategy will see £14.1 million spent in total.
